Situated right on Canal Saint-Martin, Artazart is near and dear to my heart. It’s one of the first places I discovered when I came to Paris on my own in early 2018, and I find myself back there at least once every few months.

It’s a design bookstore, broadly, but their beautifully curated selection features everything from photography to gardens to tattoos to food, offering something for everyone. It’s my go-to for gift shopping because I know they’ll have titles that I won’t find elsewhere.

My fiancé got me a gorgeous book on color from Artazart that I page through anytime I need inspiration or just a shot of something pretty. And there’s an adorable children’s section if you have little ones in your life.

Design books in Paris at Artazart bookshop

If you’re traveling and don’t want to lug home a coffee table book, they have plenty of suitcase-friendly things too: locally-designed paper goods, art prints, unique magazines, and cool Paris guides. You’ll find yourself spending a long time browsing in the mazelike, visually stimulating boutique.

The surrounding neighborhood is one of Paris’s hippest hotspots, so you can pass a whole day between Artazart and the nearby boutiques, cafés, and bars. Make sure to wander the side streets around the Canal Saint-Martin and you’ll make some cool discoveries.
