Tucked away in a little street off the Boulevard du Montparnasse, just behind the famous Montparnasse brasseries and theater venues, Rosebud is one of those rare Parisian bars that feels untouched by time.
With its dim lighting, dark wood paneling, bar stools, and deep leather banquettes, stepping into Rosebud is like stepping into a bygone era of jazz, intellectual debates, and late-night contemplation.
A favorite haunt of writers, filmmakers, and artists since the 1960s (Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Marguerite Duras, and Samuel Beckett to name just a few of its illustrious clients), Rosebud exudes a discreet elegance that’s increasingly hard to find in Paris.

The bartenders, dressed in classic white jackets, mix some of the best cocktails in town with a level of craftsmanship that speaks to decades of experience. If you appreciate a well-made Old Fashioned, perfectly balanced Dry Martini, or the house specials Pick Me Up, Paris 75, or Rosebud, this is the place to come.
Unlike the more touristy bars of Saint-Germain, Rosebud remains a quiet refuge where conversation takes precedence over the jazzy background music. It’s a place where regulars are greeted by name, couples settle in for intimate whispers over Negronis, and solo patrons can sip their drinks undisturbed, lost in thought, or in a good book.

Whether you drop by for a nightcap after a film at one of Montparnasse’s many cinemas or start your evening with a perfectly mixed classic cocktail, Rosebud reminds you why Paris remains the capital of timeless charm.
If you’re looking for a Montparnasse bar with history, character, and a touch of old-school sophistication, Rosebud is your spot. This is definitely mine!

Dropped by Rosebud the other night with a few friends and can confirm — even with its new owners, the place keeps all its late-night magic. Behind the bar, Rita is shaking things up with her own creations. If you’re in the know, ask her for a “Parthenope.” The recipe is entirely hers, but we came up with the name together… a little nod to her hometown. Not (yet) on the menu, and all the better for it ;)
