One of the four historic department stores in Paris along with Bon Marché, Printemps, and Galeries Lafayette, Le Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville (better known as BHV) is a shopping emporium that shouldn’t be snubbed while on your visit to the city.

Straddling Le Marais and Châtelet, the BHV Marais is perched directly across from the iconic Hôtel de Ville, just along Rue de Rivoli where an array of stores lineup. If you’re looking to go on a shopping spree, this is the place and the street to do it!

Boasting five stories to explore, this chic Haussmannian building is home to over 900 brands. From Urban Outfitters to Givenchy, BHV carries a variety of brands for seemingly every budget and taste. You can find all the essentials here, including perfume, intimates, shoes, and fashion. And there are even home improvement items such as elegant wallpapers and power tools on the store’s lower level. Should you need to take a quick break from shopping, head to the top floor for a few dining options that also offer great views of Paris.

The real jewel of the place though is found up on the rooftop. The trendy Le Perchoir is a small rooftop bar beloved by those in-the-know (every blogger, hipster, and those with a penchant for views). The bar offers delicious craft cocktails with a backdrop like no other—think views of the glittering Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Rue de Rivoli. It’s a must for happy hour, and is the perfect spot for mingling and picture-taking. Just be prepared to wait in line!
