Look beyond the small taco stand serving some of Paris’s best Mexican fare and you’ll find a nondescript door. Where does it lead, you wonder? Step through this secret portal and you’ll enter one of Paris’s coolest bars.
Opened in 2011, Candelarìa is Paris’s first Mexican taqueria with a world-class bar serving up craft cocktails. La Guèpe Verte is one of their classics and pairs oh-so-well with chips and salsa. Their drinks are sure to deepen your love of agave spirits and will most likely leave you with a new appreciation for the margarita.
Although it’s a speakeasy, this bar is no secret. It can get crowded, so you might want to reserve your place at the bar ahead of time. Book a table on their site or on Facebook so you’ll be sure to get in.
As for the food, you can feast on a plate of homemade tacos with a side of guacamole—if you can find a table that is! If you can’t get a table on the spot, make reservations for their weekend brunch, where you can come early and stay late!
