Living just five-minutes away from one of Paris’s most iconic jazz clubs is something I never take for granted. Hidden away on the quiet Rue Blomet in the 15th Arrondissement, Le Bal Blomet isn’t just another music venue — it’s a living piece of Parisian nightlife history.

Stepping inside the Bal Blomet feels like stepping into a timeless, intimate space where music has been resonating for nearly a century.

Originally opened in the 1924 as a “cabaret dansant” — a lively spot , this legendary live music venue was once a hotspot for the likes of Joséphine Baker, Ernest Hemingway, Man Ray, Albert Camus, and the intellectual avant-garde of the time. The club quickly became a vibrant gathering place where jazz, poetry, and the Parisian bohemian spirit came together to dance the night away.

After being closed for decades, Le Bal Blomet was beautifully restored and officially reopened in 2017.

The thoughtful renovation has brought the place back to life while still preserving its original charm. With exposed brick, soft lighting, a vintage vibe, and cozy tables hugging the stage, it feels chic yet warm, and decidedly welcoming.

It’s one of those places where you instantly feel the soul of Paris.

The programming is as eclectic as it is excellent. From classic jazz and world music to chanson française and poetry readings, Le Bal Blomet always features top-tier artists and expert musicians. Whether you’re a jazz connoisseur or simply curious, you’re pretty much guaranteed a great evening here.

In the few years since its reopening, Le Bal Blomet has become a favorite spot not only for locals like me, but also for visitors looking to experience an authentic slice of Parisian culture.

It’s one of the best jazz venues on the Left Bank, and its growing popularity means shows can sell out quickly, so make sure to check the program and reserve your tickets online in advance.

For example, the first shows back after summer vacation on September 12 and 13, 2025 are already sold out!

If you plan to go — and you definitely should! — here’s my other local insider tip: arrive about 45 minutes before the show starts. Doors usually open around 6:45pm with shows typically starting between 7:30 and 8:00pm.

That’ll give you enough time to grab one of the best seats in the house and head to the bar to order a simple but delicious cheese or charcuterie board paired with a good glass of wine before the music begins. It’s the perfect way to settle in and soak up the infectious atmosphere.
