You don’t have to have a sweet tooth to take notice of the beautifully appointed boutiques of La Cure Gourmande. With their dark wheat-colored facades and tasteful displays, they beckon you inside and guide you through a multitude of cookies, chocolates, and candy ready to be enjoyed on the spot or taken back home as souvenirs. Founded in 1989, La Cure Gourmande has been growing as a franchise business, now counting 54 locations spread around France, with 4 stores in Paris and an abundance of boutiques in Provence and the French Riviera.
Like most things in France, presentation is everything at La Cure Gourmande. The boutiques are carefully designed to appeal to all of the senses, with warm lighting, honey-colored wood shelves, and amber terracotta floors. Attractive gift boxes fill the shelves from floor to ceiling, and the aroma of cookies and chocolates permeates the air.
If you’re searching for a thoughtful gift, pick up one of the gift boxes and make your own selection of the many products available. You can choose from a variety of cookies, crackers, delicate madeleines, chocolate olives, traditional lollipops called choupettes, caramels, nougat, orangettes (orange peel sticks covered in chocolate), and much more. The little boîtes are decorated with tasteful designs of Paris landmarks as well as Belle Époque characters, and make a gorgeous keepsake for kids and adults alike. Themed boxes are also available for holidays such as Christmas, Easter, or Valentine’s Day.
The four Paris La Cure Gourmande locations are spread all around the city, including one in Le Village Montmartre (at 8 Rue de Steinkerque), just a block away from the lower entrance to the funiculaire that takes you up to Sacré-Cœur. A central location in the 2nd Arrondissement is steps from Opéra Garnier, at 49 Avenue de l’Opéra. Another can be found in the picturesque Passage Jouffroy, in the 9th, and a slightly more remote boutique is hosted inside the Bercy Village, in the 12th.
