La Plume Rive Droite

From three stories above the Rue Étienne Marcel in the 1^er Arrondissement, La Plume Rive Droite offers one of those rare moments when panorama, cuisine, and atmosphere align.

With a view of the city’s iconic zinc rooftops and nearby towers of the Eglise Saint Eustache, this is one of the rare trendy Paris restaurants which feels very much part of the heart of the French capital, not somewhere far away. You certainly know you’re not in New York, Tokyo, or Dubai.

Chef Benjamin Six helms the kitchen, crafting a menu that blends contemporary French and Japanese influences.

You can expect to find dishes like tataki de wagyu, sole tempura, lobster hotpot, and vegetarian options, all alongside snacks like steamed edamame, black cod and prawn gyozas, and a tuna pizzetta with yuzu cream and crispy rice. The craftsmanship is visible in each dish.

What sets this Châtelet – Les Halles restaurant apart, aside from its beautiful views, is its rooftop garden patio, open to the skyline and offering a cozy outdoor-living feeling right in the center of city.

It’s an ideal spot for lunch in Paris when you want sunlight and calm, or for a delicious dinner while watching the city lights begin to dance.

The service generally impresses here with an attentive staff who are friendly and willing to walk you through the menu if it’s your first visit. Our experience was lovely, but some diners have left reviews complaining about long waits and the noise level; it does indeed get quite loud when busy.

And well, the prices aren’t modest. Considering the view, the setting, the menu selection, and the quality of the food, many find it reasonable although some felt their meal wasn’t quite worth the cost.

I went for dinner recently with family — we had a few things to celebrate and thought, let’s try something trendy with a view. In my opinion, La Plume definitely delivered!

We started with a drink downstairs at the Hôtel Madame Rêve bar before heading up to the third floor for our meal at La Plume.

Inside, we settled in at a table, and ordered a round of tempura to share, followed by a delicate beef tataki, then our main courses.

Later in the evening, we moved out to the patio with its open-air Paris view, sipping on a signature cocktail as the City of Light shifted from golden hour to soft electric glow.

The ambiance was elegant, relaxed, and just special enough to make it feel like a real occasion. I left wanting to return to try the lobster hotpot and to test out more of their desserts — oui, I have a sweet tooth. I’d also love to come back to see the skies over Paris from that vantage point again.

If you’re in the mood for something elevated but not ostentatious, airy but intimate, La Plume Rive Droite is one of your best bets. Especially when you want food that shows effort, a space that shows care, and nights that linger.
