Hidden in the heart of the Bas Marais, the Place du Marché Sainte-Catherine is a perfect place to take a break in this beautiful but sometimes too busy neighborhood.
Built in 1784 on the site of the royal priory of La Couture Sainte-Catherine, the quiet cobblestone area is unlike most other spots in Le Marais. Not far from the famous Place des Vosges, tourists rarely explore this secluded pedestrian square. In the center of the square, Chinese mulberry trees and park benches offer a great place to relax. Restaurant terraces surround the charming space, with Chez Joséphine, Aomori, Terrasse Sainte-Catherine, Le Marché, Le Bistrot de la Place, and more tempting you to have a bite to eat.
It’s up to you whether you simply sit on a bench and soak up the authentic Parisian atmosphere of the place, or if you take a seat en terrasse and enjoy a long lunch… or maybe just a glass of perfectly chilled rosé!
