If you’re looking for a nice spot in Paris to work on your laptop for a couple of hours while sipping on tea or coffee and snacking on sweets, I’ve got the perfect place for you.
Anticafé offers an interesting concept, combining a coworking space with a cozy coffee shop. Rather than ordering espresso after espresso so as not to feel too guilty when setting up camp at a café, at Anticafé, you pay by the hour, with drinks and snacks — and Wi-Fi — included.
As a freelancer, I often find myself out and about in Paris needing to get some work done between meetings on opposite sides of the city. That’s when I head to the nearest Anticafé; with seven locations in Paris, one’s never too far.
For 5€/hour, I can help myself to reliable Wi-Fi, tasty treats, and as many hot or cold beverages as my heart desires. The friendly barista behind the counter hands me a time-stamped card when I arrive and I simply return the card and pay for my time on my way out.
If I won’t be there for long, I opt to pay for my drink or snack outright, which ends up saving me a little money as time is counted in hourly increments.
While it may not be that classic Parisian café experience, Anticafé is definitely a spot to keep in mind whenever you’re in Paris, especially if you’re traveling for business or if you’re a digital nomad.
Urbansider Tip: Most (if not all) of the Anticafés are air conditioned in summer! Needless to say, these spots are popular among expats like me who struggle to cope without la clim!
