Perched in a penthouse suite along the popular Rue de Rivoli, this stylish bar and restaurant offers a bird’s-eye view of the Seine and the Pont Neuf in a chic, modern setting.
Great windows let in a stream of light, and the airy dining room is decorated with clear Philippe Starck chairs, uniquely painted with the faces of Asian women. The menu offers a fusion of Japanese and French cuisines, serving dishes such as poke bowls and tataki with desserts like mille-feuille. While it remains fairly calm at lunchtime, the evening lights up with cocktails, a DJ, and a host of fashionable patrons. The restaurant’s located in the Kenzo building, and Kong’s founders have ties to the fashion industry, but the trendy spot really came to fame when it was featured on Sex and the City.
Some say the price tag is a bit high for the food and the service, but for me, this is just one of those wondrous attractions you have to see while in Paris. I highly recommend visiting; it’s an elegant option for lunch with your spouse or evening drinks with your girlfriends. After all, it was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw…
