Created by a family of Austrian-Hungarian heritage, Angelina is the epitome of a grand tearoom. Think lovely ceilings, plenty of mirrors, exquisitely-painted walls, and delicate china sitting on marble tables.
But more than for tea, this elegant address on the Rue de Rivoli—here since 1903—is known for having some of the best hot chocolate in Paris. The old-fashioned chocolat chaud (called l’Africain) is served with whipped cream and is so rich, your spoon nearly stays upright!
The decadent drink is so delicious that Coco Chanel drank it daily while sitting at table N° 45. And you can even try and recreate the experience at home with their bottled hot chocolate.
If that’s too sweet for you, you can also sip on tea and nibble on pastries in the Belle Époque dining room for a perfect afternoon pause in Paris.
