Helena Pallarés is a Spanish artist and illustrator who came to settle in Paris pursuing her passion in the city of her dreams. She soon set up her own brand of prints and designs as she continued working as an illustrator for international agencies and press (The Washington Post, Libération, Glamour, Atlas Obscura, etc.).
Helena also continued developing her personal work using her best-liked technique: the handmade collage. Using pencil drawing, paper and old magazines clippings, she creates oneiric compositions and colorful portraits that she exhibits in art fairs, galleries and artistic events all around the globe.
“The collaboration with Paris Bonne Nouvelle felt like a natural match. Portraying Parisians in their diversity of characters and feelings was an exciting challenge to take on.”
At the beginning of 2018, Helena began a collaboration with Paris Bonne Nouvelle, an Instagram account proposing tips and recommendations of ‘things to see & do’ in Paris through a series of takeover interviews of Parisians. Each interview ends with an illustrated portrait of the interviewee. The collaboration with Paris Bonne Nouvelle felt like a natural match. Portraying Parisians in their diversity of characters and feelings was a challenge she was excited to take on. Her colorful and expressive portraits soon became a trademark of the feed and inspired what would later become Urbansider.
In the summer of 2018, the idea came up to develop a line of travel items and clothes branded with Helena’s Parisian portraits. T-shirts, blouses, makeup bags, and pouches designed for the comfort and enjoyment of Urbansider travelers.
