Run by two cyclists Paul Barro and Christian Osburn, who also run the bike tour Bike About Tours, Le Peloton makes delicious coffee with beans from Paris’s own Belleville Brûlerie that pairs well with a plate of their fluffy homemade waffles.
The interior slightly resembles a wine cave perked up with bright yellow metal chairs, decorative tiles and a coffee bar where you can pull up a stool and sit and chat in English with the expat owners. Perched on a quiet street (Rue du Pont Louis-Philippe), it’s neighbors with quaint specialty shops, a bakery, a patisserie, and is steps from the restaurant Chez Julien and La Caféotheque. Order a café allongé and some scrumptious waffles, then take a seat by the window and watch passersby while taking in the oh-so-Parisian architecture of the surrounding buildings. You could get there by metro, the nearest stations are Pont Marie and Hotel de Ville, but I recommend biking over after a ride along the Seine. It’s a good Parisian place to bond with fellow cycling enthusiasts who drop by!
