Paris is always a good idea, and this July it’s especially true for horse lovers, classic car enthusiasts, music fans, fashion fiends, and vegetarians looking for a view. Here are our picks for what not to miss this month.

Musical Fountains Show at the Château de Versailles | All Month Long

Every weekend through October 31, 2023, the spectacular Musical Fountains Show continues at the Château de Versailles. Les Grandes Eaux Musicales lets visitors feel like they are part of the royal court of Louis XIV. While wandering through hidden groves that are usually closed to the public, the castle’s extraordinary 17th-century fountains flow to the rhythm of period music.

Summer Sales in Paris | Through July 25, 2023

The limited-time summer sale season ends soon, so hurry to your favorite Paris stores to get the good deals before they’re gone! Les soldes d’été end July 25th, and most shops start already start their final démarques, meaning markdowns, of up to -70% around two weeks before the end of the sales!

Tour de France | July 1 – 23, 2023

The 2023 Tour de France kicks off July 1 in Bilbao, Spain. Over the next 22 days, riders will pedal their way up through France, until the reach the capital city for the final stage.

Only the last leg of the race takes place in Paris, with the cyclists set to cross the finish line on the Champs-Élysées at approximately 7:25pm on July 23, but you can follow the peloton from many Paris bars and cafés all month long.

Fête des Tuileries | All Month Long

In the summer, the pretty Jardin des Tuileries transforms into a fairground. Each July and August, you’ll find slides, swings, food stands, and of course a Grande Roue, a giant ferris wheel which gives you amazing views of Paris. It’s free to enter the fair.

We’ve made it through the first heatwave of the summer and July is looking good here in the city. As always, there are tons of interesting events and activities taking place this month in Paris, but here are the highlights.

Paris Music Festivals in July

The outdoor music festival fun continues in Paris this month, with the Paris Jazz Festival in the Parc Floral July 2 – September 3, Lollapalooza Paris July 21 — 23, and plenty more.

Concerts for kids are also on the agenda, with the ongoing Pestacles Festival too. Learn more about all of the outdoor music festivals in Paris this summer.

Festivals du Parc Floral: Paris Jazz Festival | July 2 – September 3, 2023

July means jazz in Paris’s Parc Floral. 2023 marks the 29th edition of the Paris Jazz Festival, and once again, the botanical gardens host international artists on the covered Delta stage for both afternoon and evening concerts every Saturday and Sunday.

The festival also hosts a special “Nocturnes” series featuring some of the top jazz artists from around the world later in the evening.

European Young Talents Festival | July 2 – 22, 2023

Some of the most talented young European musicians converge on Paris for three weeks each July for the Festival Européen Jeunes Talents. The classical music festival showcases award-winning professional instrumentalists in some 20 concerts taking place in the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix-des-Arméniens, the courtyard of the beautiful Hôtel de Soubise of the National Archives in Paris, the Musée Guimet, and the Cerce Suédois.

Lollapalooza Paris | July 21 – 23, 2023

This Paris festival needs no introduction. The French edition of the mainstream music festival takes place in the Bois de Boulogne at the Longchamp Racecourse and, like all Lollapaloozas, offers a lineup full of international stars. In 2023, the stage will welcome artists including The Inspector Cluzo, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, and Rosalía.

Things To Do in Paris, July 2023

French Movie Nights with Lost in Frenchlation | July 3 – 28, 2023

Every month, our friends over at Lost in Frenchlation host several screenings of current French movies with English subtitles at cinemas across town. Whether you’re just visiting Paris for a few days or are an anglophone expat who now calls the City of Light home, these movie nights are a great way to immerse yourself in French culture without needing to speak French fluently. The five films on the agenda this July are:

  • Friday, July 7, 2023: Marinette at Entrepôt
  • Wednesday, July 12, 2023: L’Amour est Les Forêts at Luminor + Women of Paris tour

French movie nights in Paris in July

Traversée de Paris en Anciennes | July 30, 2023

If you love classic cars, be sure to be in Paris on Sunday, July 30 to watch the parade of vintage vehicles passing through the city streets.

Organized by the auto club Vincennes en Anciennes, the procession of more than 600 antique automobiles makes its way from the National Conservatory of Antique Vehicles in Antony, through Paris, and ending at the Terrasse de l’Observatoire in Meudon.

The route generally passes through the Place de la Bastille, around the Place des Vosges, up to Montmartre and just in front of Sacré Coeur before cruising through the Place de la Concorde, past Invalides, and then around the Arc de Triomphe.

Basquiat X Warhol “A Quatre Mains” | All Month Long

Since opening a few months ago in April, the “Basquiat X Warhol: Painting Four Hands” exhibition has been drawing crowds to the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. It’s ending in August though, so if you’re in Paris this July, be sure to check it out!

The exhibition showcases the collaboration between two of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. You’ll get to see over than 150 works from paintings and photographs to drawings and archives.
