Paris Cocktail Week, January 18-26

Heating Up Cold January Nights

This year, 50 different cocktail bars throughout the capital are participating in the Paris Cocktail Week, serving a total of 100 original drinks concocted just for the occasion. Workshops, theme nights, and other events are also planned all around the city.

Who said January is the gloomiest month of the year in Paris? Certainly not me! For five years now, the Paris Cocktail Week has been adding bursts of vibrant colors, awesome flavors, and plenty of bubbles to brighten up even the greyest winter night.

The Paris Cocktail Week promises to shake up the city again for its 2019 edition, running from January 18-26. This year, 50 different cocktail bars throughout the capital are participating, serving a total of 100 original drinks concocted just for the occasion. (See the entire selection here). Each bar offers two unique Cocktail Week creations at a sweet price, one with and one without alcohol. Oh, and just so you know, the term ‘mocktail’ is out – sound hip by calling your non-alcohol beverage ‘spirit-free’ instead. You’re welcome!

But the Paris Cocktail Week isn’t just about drinking. The event also includes a mix of nine unique events held in various clubs, bars, and restaurants around town. With bartending masterclasses, a boozy seafood brunch, rooftop garden workshops, and even a Blacklight Takeover party, there are plenty of good reasons to get out and brave the cold this week. If I had to choose just one, I’d try and take a seat at the ‘mystery evening’ with Nicolas Julhès, the genius craftsman behind the Distillerie de Paris, the only distillery actually in Paris.

And as for the bars? I hear you say, ’50 bars in only 7 days, there’s not enough time to make them all!’ Well, let us help you narrow it down:

Urbansider’s Top 5 for Paris Cocktail Week

Candelaria in Le Marais. A grotto-esque speakeasy in the backroom of a taqueria.

Fitzgerald near Invalides. A swanky speakeasy in the backroom of a fine restaurant.

Castor Club in Saint Germain. A log cabin-like speakeasy tucked behind a wood plank facade.

Copper Bay near République. A not-at-all-hidden, marine-inspired mixology bar just off the Grands Boulevards.

Night Flight in Montorgueil’s Hotel Bachaumont. Not on the PCW (Paris Cocktail Week) list this year, but a great, chic cocktail bar all the same.

Enjoy the week and drink responsibly!
