Best Bars in Le Marais

Beside the Stravinsky Fountain with the Centre Pompidou as a backdrop, Les Fontaines is one of my favorite terrasses in Paris for a pint. Its huge patio, cheap beers, and a laid-back student and twenty-something vibe are perfect for a relaxing drink while wandering around the area. Just get there before apéro — it fills up fast!

These guys are a key player in the Paris bar scene. Serving amazing craft cocktails for a reasonable price, this Mexican speakeasy is a must for margarita lovers. What’s even better is that it’s hidden behind the back door of an excellent taqueria where they serve some of the city’s best tacos for just 3-4€ each.

For a glass of fine wine after a tough day of shopping in Le Marais, head over to La Belle Hortense on Rue Vieille du Temple. This unusual spot, half bookstore, half wine bar, is a very welcoming and pleasant place to chat with regulars or meet fellow travelers at the authentic “zinc” bar counter. The literary café organizes exhibitions, readings, and book signings each month, so be sure to check their calendar to see what cultural events they are hosting during your stay in Paris.

This trendy spot in Le Marais, is a favorite for after dinner drinks. Opened by the founders of some of the other best bars in the area, Le Mary Celeste was a hit from the start! Part, in thanks to it’s excellent location, but also because of its tasty beverages and perfect apéro eats. Regularly hosting Paris fashion week parties and gallery events, this spot attracts a stylish crowd. So dress up, and come enjoy oysters and wine! It’s always bustling, meaning you may have to wait for a while, but you can also make reservations and skip the line.

This great rooftop bar and restaurant is perched atop the BHV Marais, just across from the Hôtel de Ville and offering a spectacular view over the city. A trendy but laid-back spot, Le Perchoir gets busy quickly on a nice night, so arrive early to avoid a line. Sit down at one of the big tables with comfy cushions and enjoy sipping on a cocktail or cold beer under the Paris sky.
