Plaza Athénée Hotel

My dream of staying at this luxury Paris hotel came true when I spent a birthday weekend here last year. The hotel embodies sophistication and elegance; every corner oozes style and glamor with art-deco and Renaissance touches and furnishings. 

The Plaza Athénée has 154 stunning rooms and 54 opulent suites. Whether you’re staying in a standard room or a suite, you’ll be guaranteed an unforgettable experience.

Every desire is anticipated with state-of-the-art conveniences, Louis XVI-inspired interiors, and French palace ambiance which is at the heart and essence of this luxurious hotel. Then there are the marble bathrooms with stand-alone baths, separate showers, and Guerlain care products. 

There are five dining options including the Michelin-starred Jean Imbert au Plaza Athénée which is nestled inside one of the most magnificent spaces I’ve ever seen adorned with gilded gold and glittering chandeliers. Breakfast is served here and it’s breakfast fit for royalty with the finest French Viennoiserie alongside a menu brimming with European and American options. 

The charming courtyard, La Cour Jardin, is surrounded by tall ivy-covered walls and the same red awnings over the windows. It’s a beautiful haven to relax and unwind and it transforms into a veritable winter wonderland during the festive season when it becomes an ice rink!

Oh, and there’s a spa too! And it’s not just any spa but the Spa Dior, a tranquil wellness retreat to re-energize after a weary day taking in all of Paris’s wonderful sights, it’s such a hard life being a tourist in Paris. It’s the ultimate retreat for pampering and relaxation.  

The hotel’s hospitality and generosity made me feel truly special none more so than the surprise that welcomed me, an Avenue Montaigne deluxe room with dazzling Eiffel Tower views. I had to pinch myself several times just to be sure I wasn’t dreaming because when night fell, the Eiffel Tower sparkled and shone as brightly as a thousand stars on a clear night.

This was the most magical and unforgettable experience of my life and with a glass of champagne and my husband beside me, we toasted my birthday in style. Can there ever be anything more romantic than this?

My stay at the Plaza Athénée in Paris was magical and it sealed my admiration for the luxury hotel’s unwavering dedication and care for each of their guests. It’s certainly one of the best places to stay near the Champs Elysées.
